The horses were “thinking pink” at Canterbury Park in Shakopee yesterday.
The inaugural Fillies Race for Hope was held yesterday afternoon. The event, a day of horse racing and fundraising to benefit Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation, featured nine races, each exclusively for fillies and mares. It also included three stakes races with the feature being the $75,000 Lady Canterbury Stakes.
Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation helps financially distressed individuals and their families in the Twin Cities area who have been touched by breast cancer. More than 500 breast cancer survivors were also expected to participate in a Survivors’ Walk that ended in the Canterbury winners’ circle.
More information on the event can be found on the Fillies Race for Hope website.
