Carver County Seeks State Funding for Lake Waconia Access 01 Aug 11

Carver County is enlisting financial support from the state to help pay for a public access at Lake Waconia Regional Park.

The county is seeking $2.8 million in state bonding to pay for half of the total project cost, which includes purchasing a 19-acre site adjacent to the county-owned park.

Due to the value of the land and development cost, funding provided by the Metropolitan Council and county are inadequate, according to a staff report.

The report concluded that a second public boat access would help satisfy user demand on the lake and contribute to improved safety on County Road 92.
