In the latest development over the crematory debate in Jordan, the Jordan City Council on Monday night took a vote of no confidence in Mayor Pete Ewals.

Councilmember Tanya Velishek made the motion, saying she was uncomfortable with how Ewals handled an incident at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home several weeks ago.

Councilmember Thom Boncher was the lone “no” vote, saying the council was ill-advised to make the decision based on allegations.

Ewals is accused of physically attacking funeral home director and crematory operator Mark Ballard, according to a restraining order granted by the Scott County District Court. The Scott County Attorney’s Office is reviewing a sheriff’s office’s investigation into the incident
