Despite mistakes, Lakeville North volleyball stays perfect 13 Sep 11

It wasn’t pretty and it hardly could be considered Lakeville North volleyball. Nonetheless, the Panthers closed out a 3-0 win over Prior Lake Tuesday night.

The atmosphere was vibrant in the Lakers gymnasium as fans were into each serve mainly due to the fact the Lakers were in each game. The Panthers hadn’t lost a single game of a match this season and were threatening to have that streak broken. Despite Prior Lake’s best efforts, Lakeville North some how came out on top each game.

Panther head coach Steve Willingham attests to the fact, the atmosphere played into the game.

“There were some stretches (where) we had some unforced errors, a lot of them. But I have to give a lot of credit to the team we were playing. It’s tough to play here.”

A curious statement coming from the coach of a squad that won the state championship last year.

Regardless, the Panthers improve to 8-0 on the year and will host the Lakeville South Cougars Thursday.

The Lakers drop to 2-4 on the year and head to Apple Valley Thursday.
