The man killed in a rear-end crash in Jordan on Monday has been identified as a Belle Plaine man.
34-year-old Tony Ess was stopped at a green light on Highway 169 at the Highway 282 intersection around 11:20 p.m. when a semi truck was unable to stop and slammed into him.
Ess’s truck was pushed into the ditch where it landed upside down. Ess was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the semi, 79-year-old Vernon Nelson of South Dakota, was taken to St. Francis Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
