NHL suspends Wild’s Staubitz, Blue Jackets’ Winsiewski indefinitely
Minnesota Wild forward Brad Staubitz and Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski were suspended indefinitely Saturday for separate incidents in Friday’s preseason game.
Staubitz received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking from behind in the third period. Wisniewski, meanwhile, received a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head of Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck in the third.
The suspensions are pending a hearing and the completion of a review by the NHL’s department of player safety. They were announced by NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan.
