A Prior Lake man who made thousands of fake postage meter stamps admitted to the allegations in federal court yesterday.
Andre George Mehilove, who also went by at least two other names, faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of manufacturing counterfeit postage stamps.
The 31-year-old admitted in court that he and his friends were amused at how easy it was to make the fake stamps. Mehilove told postal inspectors that he created the counterfeit stamps using his personal computer and printer, sent thousands of letters using the bogus postage, and also sold some of the stamps online.
A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
