A 44-year-old Kasota man was released on $15,000 bail after his involvement in a domestic incident earlier this month.
According to a complaint filed with the district court in Le Center, on Oct. 5 at around 8:45 p.m. Le Sueur County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to E. Hill St. in Kasota for a report of a domestic dispute. A woman called 911 to report a male party had a shotgun and threatened to kill her. When dispatch attempted to call back, a male answered but said nothing, and a female voice could be heard in the background shouting for help.
Deputies located the woman, who told them her boyfriend had grabbed, struck and hit her, and threatened her with a shotgun.
A statewide warrant was issued on October 6 for Arnold Joseph DePuydt’s arrest. He was later apprehended and has been charged with assault in the second degree involving a deadly weapon, domestic assault by strangulation, and domestic assault.
If convicted of the most serious charge against him, DePuydt could be sentenced to seven years in jail and/or a $14,000 fine. An omnibus hearing had been scheduled for Oct. 18.
