After just 28 minutes of deliberation, a Scott County jury on Oct. 12 found a 36-year-old man not guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl in Shakopee.
After a two-day trial, Alexander Jamal Griffin was acquitted of three felony charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Griffin was accused by the girl in May 2010 of having sexual intercourse with her repeatedly over nine months. He spent several months in jail awaiting trial.
Defense attorney Michael McDonald said there was insufficient evidence and nothing to corroborate what his client was accused of doing. McDonald said the girl gave inconsistent stories to police and on the stand.
