Two reports about possible child luring in Mankato have prompted a warning from the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
Both incidents involved a similar vehicle and suspect, and happened about 3 p.m. at or near elementary schools. The first incident happened October 14 near Rosa Parks Elementary; the second incident happened Tuesday at Roosevelt Elementary. In both cases children said they were approached and asked if they wanted a ride.
The only description for the driver is that he was a black man in a white van or SUV. Witnesses from both incidents also said there was a female passenger.
In light of the upcoming trick-or-treat holiday, parents are urged to remind their children to walk in groups and leave quickly and tell a trusted adult if they are approached by a stranger.
