New Prague Lutheran Church continues to count their blessings 31 Oct 11

Rev. Dr. Steve Trewartha of New Prague was installed as pastor of the New Prague Lutheran Church (NPLC) at their October 30 service. NPLC, a new church in New Prague, is a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Rev. Paul Spaulding of the national LCMC was present at the service and conducted the installation ceremony. “This is a momentous day for our congregation,” said Rod Tietz, church launch team member, who spoke on behalf of the congregation. “Having a leader in place with the experience and talents of Pastor Steve is a critical step in moving this young church forward.”

The installation service was the first service officially presided over by Pastor Trewartha “I feel extremely blessed to be called as your leader,” said Trewartha as he spoke to the large crowd of almost 500 in attendance on Sunday. The crowd was so large, church organizers had to set up seating and an audio/video feed in the nearby choir room to accommodate the overflowing crowd. Pr. Trewartha’s message spoke to being a true follower of Christ not just a fan or spectator. “It doesn’t take perfect people to do the mission of God,” said Pr. Trewartha. “We are called to get off the sidelines and lead people into a transformational relationship with Christ.”

Pr. Trewartha also spoke of the many blessings provided to the church. “Who would have believed that, in such a short time, we would be gathering with this number and the Spirit richly filling this place? God will provide for our needs, in His timing.” Most recently, Pr Trewartha announced to the congregation of NPLC a most generous gift was being received from State Bank of New Prague. State Bank has set the wheels in motion to transfer the old bank property, located on Central Avenue in New Prague, to NPLC and could possibly be completed as early as the end of November.

A reception was held following the service. At the conclusion, Sunday small group ministries began for all ages. Wednesday night confirmation classes begin November 2 at the Middle School. Further information about NPLC worship services and ministries can be found at www.nplutheran.org.
