A 29-year-old Shakopee man is facing several criminal charges after stealing a pizza delivery vehicle, driving drunk and crashing into a garage.
A Domino’s Pizza driver had just delivered a pizza on the evening of October 15 when he saw someone drive off in his car. He ran after the vehicle, cut it off, and pounded on the hood to stop the driver, but the man behind the wheel accelerated and then crashed into an alley garage.
Police later found Shane Lee Comes in an upstairs bedroom of a neighboring home. It took officers several attempts to wake the nonresponsive Comes, who they said “reeked of alcohol.”
Comes was treated at St. Francis Regional Medical Center and then taken to the Scott County Jail, where his blood alcohol measured at 0.20 percent. The legal limit for driving in Minnesota is 0.08.
Comes has been charged with motor vehicle theft, drunken driving and test refusal.
