Kasota man receives life sentence for murder 04 Nov 11

A 24-year-old Kasota man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for killing his ex-girlfriend a year ago.

Tyler Wicklund tried to hold back tears and apologized as he told the crowded courtroom his emotions “eat me up inside.”

Wicklund cut the throat of 20-year-old Jessica Buboltz in October 2010. He pleaded guilty in federal court in September to one count of first-degree murder and one charge of felon in possession of a firearm. He received a mandatory life sentence for the murder charge in Le Sueur County District Court in Le Center on Wednesday, and will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
