A five-week investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct between a Faribault Public School teacher and a student has been forwarded to the Rice County attorney’s office.

Faribault Middle School band director Pat Kunkel has been on paid administrative since the allegation in late September.

Faribault Police Chief Dan Collins said the department received a report from a juvenile female of “some perceived inappropriate touching by an adult.” Collins told the Faribault Daily News the department was unable to validate the claims but, following protocol, has forwarded the case to the attorney’s office.

Faribault Public School District Superintendent Todd Sesker said there is no history of complaints or allegations against Kunkel. The district is waiting to conduct an internal investigation until the county attorney decides whether to file charges in the case.
