Two Faribault teenagers were among five people injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday south of Shieldsville.
Zachary Hoaglund, 17, and Mikayla Holter, 16, were ejected from their vehicle after Hoaglund lost control on a curve, over-corrected, and collided with another vehicle.
Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn told the Faribault Daily News neither of the teens was wearing their seat belt.
Holter was airlifted from the scene in critical condition. Officials at North Memorial Hospital said this morning she has been upgraded to fair condition. Hoaglund was taken by ambulance to Rochester Mayo where officials say he is in good condition.
Ricky Carr, 43, of Spring Valley was driving the other vehicle involved in the collision. Reports indicate he was up and walking after the accident. Passengers in Carr’s vehicle included Jacqueline M. Carr, 42, of Spring Valley, Judy Ann Bang, 61, of Kilkenny, and George Steven Bang, 69, of Kilkenny. All three were transported by ambulance to Northfield Hospital.
