A nationwide warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Le Sueur man who allegedly stole a motor vehicle and a laptop computer from his mother’s residence.
The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Department was contacted Nov. 8 by an individual who said his brother, Wayne Robert Mathern, 32, had stolen the computer and vehicle from his mother’s residence in rural Sharon Township.
The vehicle was recovered in Minneapolis, but Mathern was not present and his whereabouts were unknown. A county investigator also found the laptop computer at a pawn shop in Minneapolis.
Mathern has at least five felony-level convictions and he faces two additional felony theft charges from the auto theft incident. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail and/or a $10,000 fine.
