Kilkenny post office on list of possible closures 30 Nov 11

Residents of Kilkenny came to the defense of their local mail yesterday when they met with United States Postal Service representatives about the possible closure of their post office.

The Kilkenny Post Office is one of up to 3,600 post offices around the country being looked at for closure. Residents believe the closure would hurt the town, and said they don’t think the Postal Service cares about shutting down their location.

USPS representatives say the criteria for a post office closing include having less than two hours of workload each day and less than $27,000 walk-in retail revenue each year, and Kilkenny falls short of the criteria.
