Minnesota Twins: Winter Meetings Recap 09 Dec 11

RHP Daniel Turpen ended up being the player to be named from the Rockies in the Kevin Slowey trade. Turpen, 25 fanned 33 and walked 35 in 47 relief appearances, and one start, with Class AA Tulsa last season.

RHP Terry Doyle was selected with the second pick in the Rule 5 draft, from the White Sox system.

1B Justin Morneau is still expected to remain on the field for the Twins, though manager Ron Gardenhire also acknowledged there have been thoughts of keeping the injury-riddled player as a DH.

RHP Matt Capps re-signed to be the team’s closer last week and said a large part of his motivation for next season is to win back the respect of Twins fans that booed him off Target Field last season.
