Man found dead on day of sentencing 19 Dec 11

Loren Veltkamp

A Chanhassen man who was found guilty in October of a kidnapping and domestic assault charge was found dead in his Chanhassen home Friday morning, the day he was scheduled to be sentenced.

The medical examiner has ruled Loren Veltkamp’s death a suicide.

Veltkamp had been found guilty of hog tying a woman living at his residence, driving her 12 miles away, and throwing her out of the vehicle.

According to the Carver County Attorney’s Office, the kidnapping charge would carry a presumptive sentence of between 41 months and 57 months in prison.
