Police say a woman from Savage who reported that her neighbor’s house was being burglarized was actually the one responsible for the burglary.
Lynette Catherine Walsh, 28, has been charged with second-degree burglary. Her alleged accomplice, Douglas Alan Nelson, of Burnsville, faces the same charge.
According to the complaint, Savage police officers were called to a home on Nov. 11 for a report of a burglary. When they arrived, Walsh said she saw two black men, one with a backpack, run from the back of a neighbor’s house. Officers searched the home and found several items missing, including jewelry and coins.
When Walsh was arrested earlier this month on an unrelated attempted robbery, police searched her pawn history and discovered she had pawned or sold over 180 items since March 2010, including the items that were stolen Nov. 11.
Walsh allegedly admitted burglarizing her neighbor’s home and said she had help from Nelson; Nelson has denied any involvement. Both have omnibus hearings scheduled for Jan. 3, 2012.
