Nature Conservancy land added to Minnesota Valley Wildlife Refuge 30 Dec 11

Good news for wildlife conservationists: the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge just grew by 95 acres.

The Nature Conservancy, which owns 60,000 preserve acres across the state, has donated its Black Dog Preserve to the Refuge. The land is located on the Minnesota River in Burnsville.

The land includes a rare calcareous fen – a wetland also found in Chaska’s Seminary Fen off of County Road 61.
