No shortage of excitement Thursday night at Hasse Arena as the unranked Prior Lake Lakers defeated the ranked Lakeville South Cougars in overtime. It was a sluggish start for the 6-3 Cougars, not being able to do set much up on offense. The 5-5 Lakers took advantage and put the first points on the board with a goal from Krueger. Despite an explosive start to the second period and a goal from Kloos and Lauderdale the Cougars were not able to hold onto the lead for long. The Lakers answered with two goals of their own from Mueller and Krueger. It took less than a minute into the 3rd period for Mueller to score again. It was back and forth from there with Freemark capitalizing on a power play, then Smith with a goal for Prior Lake. With a minute left and on a power play, Freemark was able to score once again, taking the game into overtime. It was the Lakers Derek Johnson who was then able to end the game. There were plenty of shots taken in this matchup with over twenty shots on goal for each team. Lakeville South drops to 6-4 and take on Lakeville North this Saturday. The now 6-5 Lakers will head to Rosemount for another Saturday game.
