The USDA Farm Service Agency has announced plans to consolidate more than 130 FSA offices nationwide, including the Scott County location in Jordan.
Laura Kieser with the University of Minnesota Extension in Scott County says there is an FSA office in almost every other county nearby, making the area an easy target for consolidation, but producers forced to travel to a different office will not have to go far.
A public meeting will be held Tuesday. Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Ridges of Sand Creek Golf Club, 21775 Ridges Drive, Jordan. Affected producers are encouraged to attend, as this will be the only local meeting held to take public comment on the consolidation plan.
