Following the pattern of many schools around the state, the Jordan School Board has chosen to require baseline concussion testing for all 7-12 athletes in the district.
Athletic Director Jeff Vizenor will now seek bids and provide details for the tests at Jordan schools. At a board meeting earlier this month, Vizenor said the testing would likely start in the spring for all athletes. Eventually, Vizenor believes test will be conducted on grades seven, nine and 11.
The test will give medical professionals a personalized baseline by which to judge athletes’ concussion symptoms.
Parents who would prefer to have their children opt out can sign a waiver.
