Le Sueur County Sheriff issues thin ice, open water warnings 01 Feb 12

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office is strongly recommending that there be no further vehicle travel on any county lakes.

Sheriff Tom Doherty issued a press release Tuesday in response to mild weather and ice conditions that are rapidly deteriorating. Doherty says the uncommonly warm temperatures that we are experiencing are causing the ice to become unstable. His office has also found several Le Sueur County Lakes with areas of open water.

Doherty is recommending those fishermen that have larger fixed structure fish houses on the lakes to remove them immediately. Additionally, all anglers that are venturing onto the lakes are urged to use extreme caution and take precautions such as wearing a life jacket.
