Tuesday Night at New Prague High School the Trojans hosted the Jordan Jaguars in non-conference basketball action. #10 in the 2A division, the Jaguars come into the game lead by their two leading scorers guard Madison Dean and forward Kelsy Chambers. The Trojans looked to counter that high scoring duo with two great players of their own: guard Annie Dittberner and senior forward Anna Rynda.
Early on the Jaguars struggled to get anything going offensively as bad passing and forced shots allowed New Prague to jump out to an early lead. The Trojans being very aggressive on defense were able to get their hands into the Jaguars passing lanes and forcing the Jaguars to turn the ball over much too often in the first half.
It was shaping up to be a blowout late in the first half and into the second as the New Prague Trojans are able to pull out to a 12 point lead early in the second period. Lead by the defensive presence of Madison Dean and the perimeter shooting of Elle Case and Haley Anderson, the Jordan Jaguars were able to come storming back and even take the lead at one point. The Jaguars took advantage of fouls by the Trojans and were able to capitalize on free throws kept it tight late in the second half.
The excellence down low in the paint by Anna Rynda and impressive guard play by Annie Dittberner for the Trojans ended up being too much for the Jaguars as the Trojans are able to ice the game with free throws in the last minutes. The Trojans hold on and come away with a big victory as the beat the Jordan Jaguars Tuesday night by a final score of 60 to 53.
