Charges: Man stabbed father 2 dozen times 07 Feb 12

CROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) – A 27-year-old man is accused of stabbing his father two dozen times in the head and neck while killing him in a Crookston apartment.

Jacob Abel was charged Tuesday with first- and second-degree murder.

According to the complaint, Abel told authorities after the stabbing that he “was going to be famous.”

The Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald reports police were called Sunday night and found 58-year-old Jerome Abel lying in a pool of blood. Officers arrested Jacob Abel without incident as he stood in the apartment hallway holding a knife.

The doctor who conducted the autopsy says the tip of the knife was recovered from Jerome Abel’s skull.

The Crookston Times reports Jacob Abel’s court appearance Tuesday was cut short after he appeared confused and interrupted the proceedings with a tirade.
