Man accused of breaking into house, beating up brother 07 Feb 12

A 20-year-old Inver Grove Heights man is accused of breaking into a Shakopee home last week to beat up his brother, according to charges filed in Scott County District Court.

Police received a call at 5 a.m. Jan. 31 that Joseph Jerome Song was threatening his brother with a shovel.

Witnesses reported that Song broke into a basement window with a rock and then kicked open the door to the upper floor bedroom where his brother was hiding.

Song allegedly hit his brother in the head with open and closed fists until a woman could hold him back while the brother ran out the house.

Song reportedly ran out the back of the residence, but was tracked to another residence, where he was taken into custody.

Song has been charged with felony first-degree burglary, two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor fourth-degree damage to property.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 16.
