Just a month after two Scott County Board members tried to fire County Administrator Gary Shelton, the latest board meeting agenda reveals that the county has hired a civil attorney to investigate an employee complaint against him.
County Commissioner Dave Menden of Shakopee wanted another county’s employee relations office to oversee the investigation, but the board voted 3-2 Tuesday to keep oversight in-house, saying another county wouldn’t want to handle the matter.
The investigation has been ongoing for six weeks. The complaint will only become public if the County Board determines disciplinary action is required based on the investigator’s findings.
Shelton is out of the office this week and has not responded to calls for comment from the Shakopee Valley News.
