Former coaches, former players, and even former teams will be in Montgomery Friday night for the first Montgomery-Lonsdale Boys’ Basketball reunion.
Plans are to honor all former Redbird Basketball alumni and coaches with a special emphasis on the 12 District 13 championship teams and to the 1982 State Tournament squad. This year marks the 30th anniversary of that achievement.
Most of the ‘82 squad has committed to attend the event, along with many of the former district championship team members as well as players who broke 1000 points during their career. In addition, former coaches including Terry Lang, Butch Moening, Dick Milinkovich and John Schmiesing plan to attend.
This event also signifies the end of Redbird Basketball, as Montgomery-Lonsdale prepares to consolidate with Le Center next year. Friday’s varsity game begins at 7:00 p.m., and a get-together that’s open to the public will be held at the Montgomery American Legion Club following the game.
