It was an exciting atmosphere Friday night as the 10-12 Tigers played host to the the 10-11 Jordan Hubmen. Both teams statistically very similar, and with their last matchup ending 74-72 in favor of Belle Plaine this one was expected to come down to the wire.
Both teams came out of the gate fiery and energized, but by the end of the 1st half it was Jordan controlling the tempo and ahead by double digits. In the first few minutes of the 2nd, Belle Plaine seemed to have improved their play, but the extra effort and a string of threes in the last minute wasnt enough for the Tigers. Jordan wins with the help of aggressive play by Jake Andersen and Micah Hennen, not to mention their combined 19 points. Four 3′s and a total of 18 points from Nate Beckman didn’t hurt either. Top scorer for Belle Plaine was Everett Kruschke with 17 points. The final score was Jordan 74, Belle Plaine 66.
The Hubmen even their record at 11-11 while the Tigers drop to 10-13. Jordan and Belle Plaine are now tied in the Minnesota River conference. Jordan heads to Le Center next Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, Bethlehem Academy will host Belle Plaine.
