Local state representative decides not to seek re-election 24 Feb 12

A long time state representative for the Jordan area has announced that he will not be seeking re-election this fall.

On Thursday, Rep. Mark Buesgens, of Savage, told the Shakopee Valley News that after 14 years in office, he’s ready to move on and “seek new adventures.” The Republican added that his decision is not due to the release of redistricting plans. Buesgens currently represents House District 35B; under the new redistricting plan 80 percent of his constituents will move to the new House District 56A.

Several local GOP legislators have announced they do plan to seek re-election despite new district maps, including Senator Claire Robling of Spring Lake Township and State Rep. Michael Beard of Shakopee.
