Girls High School Tournament basketball action Tuesday night from New Prague as the Trojans hosted the Glencoe-Silver Lake in the first round of the section 2AAA tournament.
Glenccoe-Silver Lake was able to start with the lead, 2-1 over New Prague early, but unfortunately for them it was the only lead they would posses throughout the rest of the game. The Trojans of New Prague where able to establish a good offensive flow early in the first half. Scoring almost at will and pulling ahead to a 16 point lead before Glencoe-Silver Lake was able to chip away at the deficit climbing with 4 points of New Prague to close out the first half.
The second half was dictated by the Trojans, led by senior forward Anna Rynda, who lead both teams in scoring and finished the night with 24 points. New Prague was able to establish big lead in the second half and Glencoe-Silver Lake was never able to get closer then 10.
Great effort by Clarissa Ober who led Glencoe-Silver Lake with 17 points on the night but it just wasn’t good enough to get passed the explosive offense of New Prague as they win the game tonight by a final score of 60 to 44 in favor of New Prague.
Up next for the Trojans, they will take on Mankato East Saturday, March 3rd, in the second round of the section playoffs and you’ll be able to hear that game here on 1350 KCHK and online at KCHKRADIO.net
