ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) – School officials in Rochester say a third-grade student has been disciplined for threatening another student with a fake gun.
Letters were sent to parents of students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School Monday and Tuesday. District spokeswoman Jennifer Pozanc says the incident happened last Friday on the school’s playground. Pozanc says district policy dictates that there’s no disciplinary distinction between a real and a fake gun. She says the difference in this case is the age of the student.
District officials would not disclose how the 8-year-old boy was disciplined for bringing the pop gun to school. The Post-Bulletin reports some parents complained that they should have been notified about the incident sooner.
