Two men have been summoned to district court for a crime that was committed almost a year ago.
Mitchell William Florea, 24, of Jordan and Nathan Thomas Bandy, 23, of Belle Plaine are each facing a felony charge of motor vehicle theft.
According to a criminal complaint filed last April, the Montgomery Police Department was contacted by an individual who reported a vehicle that he was trying to sell had been stolen. On Jan. 12 the complainant told police he had located the truck’s frame and motor parked at a residence in Rice County belonging to Florea.
Authorities contacted Florea, who admitted he and his cousin had been drinking and driving in the Montgomery area when they saw the truck and decided to steal it. Their first court appearance is set for March 6.
