Section 1AAA playoffs kicked off Wednesday night from New Prague High School as the #2 seeded Trojans hosted the #7 seeded Waseaca Blue Jays.
Both teams experiencing highs and lows in the first half as the Trojans jump out to a big lead early only to see the Blue Jays climb their way back with help from bad forced shot attempts by New Prague. Murphy’s Law seemed to be in affect for the Trojans in the first half as everything that could go wrong did go wrong with the Trojans missing easy shots and not getting the calls they wanted from the refs and found themselves unusually committing a lot of fouls with 8 in the first half.
The Blue Jays coming out with confidence in the second half as they were only down four coming out of half time only to have their hopes dashed by a tremendous offensive explosion by the Trojans. New Prague able to stretch their lead out to as many as 20 points mid-way through the second half. The Blue Jays able to cut that lead all the way down to 6 only to see New Prague stretch the lead back out and hold on for a first round win here in the section 1AAA playoffs.
Up next for the Trojans they will await Albert Lea who also came away with a first round win. We’ll have that game for you Saturday night tip-off a 7 pm on KCHK/KRDS sports.
