Two Rice County women are facing felony charges after trying to steal almost $1,700 worth of merchandise that they hid in a baby stroller.
Sarah Marie Burlingame, 31, and Jessica Gabrielle Ellingson, 35, both of Faribault, are each charged with aiding and abetting a felony theft and possession of shoplifting gear in connection with the March 4 incident.
According to the criminal complaint store employees told police that they had become suspicious after observing Burlingame and Ellingson pushing a baby stroller because there wasn’t a child with them.
The value of the goods hidden in the stroller totaled $1,696. A criminal trial date has not been set.
