A teenage boy from Norwood Young America was killed this morning after he was hit by a semitrailer truck while lying on the highway.
The incident happened around 7 a.m. on Highway 212 near Reform St. in Norwood Young America. Authorities say the 17-year-old wrapped himself in a dark blanket and lay down the highway where he was fatally hit by the truck. State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske tells the Star Tribune it appears the teen meant to kill himself.
The 55-year-old truck driver from Gibbon, Minn., was uninjured. The identities of the victim and the driver have not yet been released.
