Man charged in high-speed car, foot chase 27 Mar 12

Dmitri Quillan Van Valkenburg, 38, is charged with first-degree driving while impaired and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of fleeing on foot.

On the evening of St. Patricks day, a State Patrol officer attempted to pull over the vehicle Van Valkenburg was driving. Instead, Van Valkenburg led police on a chase that started in Bloomington and ended in Lakeville, at times reaching speeds up to 100 mph.

According to police, after running over a spike strip, Van Valkenburg fled on foot, but a K-9 unit was eventually able to locate him.

This is Van Valkenburg’s third felony DWI. His court appearance is scheduled for April 17.
