MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A grand jury has indicted a Minneapolis teenager on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy last summer.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s office says 17-year-old Donquarius Davon Copeland was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in a drive-by shooting.
Copeland was indicted as an adult in the death of 13-year-old Rayjon Gomez.
Copeland also is accused of attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shooting at two other boys who were with Gomez on Aug. 24.
Gomez was shot while riding his bike with his friends in north Minneapolis. One of the other boys was struck by a bullet but survived.
A 16-year-old boy also is in custody. But his name was not released because he was 15 at the time of the killing.
