Foster home caregiver charged with sexual abuse of vulnerable 05 Apr 12

A man from St. Paul who is employed at a Burnsville adult foster home has been charged with sexually abusing an 18-year-old woman in his care.

Geoffrey Edward Florance, 26, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree assault and criminal abuse of a vulnerable adult by a caregiver.

Florance allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, who is autistic and prone to seizures, while he cared for overnight on March 27. A social worker called police the next morning when she noticed a large cut on the woman’s head and several cuts and bruises on her neck and face.

If convicted of the most serious count against him, Florance could face up to 30 years in prison. He remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
