Wednesday at New Prague High School the Trojans hosted the Visitation Blazers for an afternoon of inter-conference softball.
The Trojans still looking for their first win of the season and hoping to get it against the Blazers, give the ball to Amber Hoffman for the start with hopes that her team will rally behind her and give the Blazers all they can handle.
The Blazers playing their first game of the season but coming off a good season last year coming up just shy of the state tournament in coach Jameson’s first year, looking to start their year off strong.
Amber Hoffman made quick work of the Visitation Blazers in the first inning sitting them down one, two, three, but for the Blazers starting pitcher Sarah Otto, not so easy, the first three batters for New Prague get on base and were eventually able to push a run across to take a 1-0 lead to the second.
The Blazers were finally able to get to Hoffman in the third inning to tie the game at one due to a wild pitch allowing Dee Dee Kulhanek to score from third.
Hoffman shut them down there though as the one run is all she would allow Visitation the rest of the game as she goes 6 innings allowing only one run on four hits.
The Trojans not settling for the tie were able to get to Sarah Otto again in the late innings as they were able to push two more runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth. Lead by Ashley Hoffman who left the game going 2 for 3 and scoring twice, the Trojan offense was firing on all cylinders Wednesday as they are able to record their first win of the season by a final score of 7-1.
