Minneapolis, Minn. (AP) – The defending champion Minnesota Lynx have picked Notre Dame power forward Devereaux Peters with the third overall selection in the WNBA draft.
The 6-foot-2 Peters is a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year. She helped the Fighting Irish reach two straight NCAA championship games and finished her college career as only the second player in program history with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 150 blocks and 150 steals.
The Lynx acquired this selection before last season in a trade with the Washington Mystics for center Nicky Anosike.
There isn’t much room on Minnesota’s roster, but Peters can provide depth at the post positions behind Rebekkah Brunson and Taj McWilliams-Franklin
