Kline receives GOP nod in District 2; District 1 still Longtime Congressman John Kline will run for office again this November after unanimously receiving the GOP endorsement for his newly-shaped district.

During the Republican convention for the Second Congressional District, held Saturday at Shakopee Junior High, Kline faced no opponent for the seat.

Democrats in the same district will convene this Saturday to choose between Dakota County Commissioner Kathleen Gaylord, Northfield City Council member Patrick Ganey and former state Rep. Mike Obermueller of Eagan for the DFL endorsement.

Meanwhile, in District 1, GOP delegates couldn’t decide whether to endorse Representative Mike Parry, of Waseca, or Allen Quist, a former state representative from St. Peter.

That convention was kicked out of the Kato Ballroom after more than 14 hours of deliberation. Delegates narrowly voted to meet again for a second convention.
