Police discover pot in Belle Plaine home during domestic disputeA fight between roommates may turn into felony drug charges after police responding to a domestic dispute call found marijuana plants inside a Belle Plaine home.

Officers were called to a home on South Willow Street just after 2 a.m. April 18. The two women allegedly involved in the domestic dispute fled before police arrived; one was located, arrested, and taken to the county jail on fifth-degree domestic assault charges.

When they searched the house, police found 15 marijuana plants almost ready for use. Belle Plaine Police Investigator Terry Stier told the Belle Plaine Herald that police were unaware of the small pot growing at the house and “wouldn’t have known (except for the assault call).”

The case was forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s office for possible felony charges against the women.
