Oh the heels of a week when it threw in the towel on racino legislation, Canterbury Park has reached an agreement with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Community to increase poker playing at the track and simulcast horse racing at the casino.
According to the Shakopee Valley News, the two parties reached the agreement last week. The new legislation, proposed by Canterbury, would increase the number of poker tables allowed at the casino and raise the maximum bet per table.
Racino Now spokesman Ron Rosenbaum told the newspaper that revenue from simulcast races would be split between the track, the tribes, and the horse industry.
Rosenbaum also said this agreement does not prevent Canterbury from lobbying for a racino next year.
