Fire, smoke damage garage in New Prague 03 May 12

Emergency responders were called to residential fire in New Prague yesterday afternoon when a passerby noticed smoke coming from a garage and called 911.

Assistant Fire Chief Tom Soukup tells KCHK he got the call around 4:00 for the fire at a home on Columbus Avenue near St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Fire fighters were able to contain the small blaze to the detached garage. The structure is still standing.

Soukup says it appeared to be a possible electrical fire. Two motorcycles, a snowblower, and other miscellaneous items in the building were damaged by smoke.

No one was hurt and the homeowners were not home at the time of the incident.
