Eagan man charged with stealing from sports camps 11 May 12

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — An Eagan coach is charged with stealing money from the basketball and soccer camps he ran for the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom says 60-year-old Kurt Bruce Virgin is charged with six counts of theft by swindle. A complaint says Virgin diverted more than $29,000 from the sports camps and student fundraisers to his personal bank accounts from April 2009 to December 2011.

Prosecutors say Virgin has admitted improperly using the money for personal purposes. A phone number for Virgin has been reassigned and the county courts clerk says a defense attorney for Virgin is not listed in his file.
