Man pleads guilty to choking HCMC lab tech 16 May 12

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to choking a lab technician at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Forty-five-year-old Timothy Marshall pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree assault. He was facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of assault.

Prosecutors say Marshall attacked a technician in a restroom at the downtown Minneapolis hospital last October. The complaint says he put the woman in a choke hold and punched her in the head before another person entered the bathroom and intervened.

Marshall told police he was schizophrenic and heard voices telling him to kill.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Marshall will be sentenced on July 9th.
