No students injured after teenager rear-ends New Prague school bus 05 Jun 12

A 16-year-old driver was injured after rear-ending a school bus Monday afternoon near Cedar Lake Regional Park north of New Prague.

A Scott County official said the crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Scott County Road 2 and Red Wing Avenue. The crash was described as a rear-end collision involving a Saturn sedan and a school bus.

Scott County Sheriff’s deputies say the 16-year-old girl told them she never saw the bus. Authorities say there are no indications that she ever hit the brakes. The girl, whose name has not been released, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague with head injuries.

There were 30 kids on the bus at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the crash continues.
